What Will We See In Heaven?

Colossians 3:1-2 - “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
A story is told about a man who found out it was his time to go to Heaven. He asked the Lord if he could bring just one thing with him to Heaven. The Lord said, “No, you cannot.” Finally, after many requests, the Lord said, “Okay, you can bring one thing with you to Heaven.” Happily, the man went home and packed his suitcase full of as much gold as he could find. When he arrived in Heaven the angels saw his suitcase and said, “Sorry you can’t bring that in here.” The man said, “The Lord said I could bring this one suitcase.” “If the Lord said so, then okay,” they said. “By the way, what’s in there anyway?” The man opened the bag, and when the angels looked in, they said, “Oh, it’s pavement.”
Many of us have a different image of what heaven might look like. We might have a different image of what the golden streets look like. We might have a different idea of what our mansion will look like. Some of us wonder about what we might do in heaven. Will we have a “heavenly Netflix” so we can watch events like the flood, Daniel and the lion’s den, or David and Goliath? All joking aside, the Bible does not tell us every detail about Heaven. However, the Bible teaches us some important truths about Heaven.
1. We CAN go to Heaven
Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
2. We CAN NOT take anything with us
1 Timothy 6:7, “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”
3. We CAN invite others to come with us
Mark 16:15, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Often when I think about Heaven, I imagine myself sitting on the front porch of my mansion. I’m looking out and seeing someone walking down the street. And then, as I recognize who it is, I smile. Why, you might ask? Because I had a part in seeing them accept Christ. And when I get to Heaven, that will be the only thing that will matter.
The only thing you will see in heaven that came from this earth will be other people. The question is will we have a part in seeing others get there? Will we strive to share the Gospel so that one day when we are sitting on our front porch, in Heaven, we can look out and see someone that is there because of the efforts we put forth on this earth?
